Long FaDepartment of Respiratory Medicine

Professional Title:Chief Physician
Speciality:
Expertise in diagnosing and treating complex and critical respiratory diseases (refractory asthma, emphysema, bullae, pulmonary nodules, lung tumors, various acute and chronic respiratory failures including ARDS, interstitial lung disease, refractory pneumothorax, pulmonary infarction) and minimally invasive interventional diagnostic and therapeutic techniques using respiratory endoscopy. First in China to successfully explore "Bronchial Thermoplasty" for treating COPD-asthma overlap syndrome. Pioneered "Bronchial Thermoplasty (BT)" and "Bronchial Cryo-denervation (BCD)" for severe refractory asthma in our city. First introduced "Thermal Vapor Ablation," "Valve Implantation Lung Volume Reduction," "Denervation Radiofrequency Ablation (TLD)," and "Mist Cryotherapy" for COPD in our city. First in our city to establish "AR Full-lung Navigation Bronchoscopic Transparenchymal Nodule Access (BTPNA)," enabling precise diagnosis and treatment of early-stage lung cancer. Utilizes "Photodynamic

Clinical Specialties

He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of complicated and critical respiratory diseases, including refractory asthma, pulmonary emphysema, pulmonary bullae, pulmonary nodules, lung tumors, acute and chronic respiratory failure (including ARDS), interstitial lung disease, refractory pneumothorax and pulmonary embolism. He also excels in minimally invasive interventional respiratory endoscopy.
He pioneered the domestic research on bronchial thermoplasty for COPD-asthma overlap syndrome with successful clinical outcomes. He took the lead in launching multiple cutting-edge interventional techniques in the city:
  1. Bronchial Thermoplasty (BT) and Bronchial Cryo-Denervation (BCD) for severe refractory asthma;

  2. Thermal Vapor Ablation Lung Volume Reduction, Endobronchial Valve Lung Volume Reduction, Thermal Radiofrequency Lung Denervation (TLD) and Spray Cryotherapy for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease;

  3. The city’s first AR-guided Whole-Lung Navigation Bronchoscopy with Bronchial Transparenchymal Needle Access (BTPNA, also known as lung tunnel technique) for precise sampling, diagnosis and treatment of early peripheral lung cancer nodules;

  4. Photodynamic therapy for lung cancer;

  5. Endoscopic lung volume reduction for severe emphysema and refractory pneumothorax.

His scope of interventional techniques covers endoscopic thermal and cryoablation for thoracic tumors (electrocautery, argon plasma coagulation, hybrid knife, cryotherapy, laser, radiofrequency ablation, microwave ablation), endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA), robot-assisted CT-guided lung tumor ablation, and medical thoracoscopy.

Academic Achievements

He has published more than 100 papers in SCI-indexed journals and Chinese core journals. He presides over numerous provincial, municipal and district-level research projects, holds a number of authorized patents, and serves as chief editor of multiple monographs. He was awarded the Third Prize of Municipal Science and Technology Progress Award, and has received various personal honorary titles at provincial, municipal and district levels.
