The Department of Ultrasound Medicine of Shenzhen Guangming District People's Hospital was established on December 26, 2017, formally integrated on the basis of the ultrasound medicine departments of the two campuses, namely the West Campus (former Guangming New District People's Hospital) and the East Campus (former Guangming New District Central Hospital).
The main business of the Department of Ultrasound Medicine includes two major parts: ultrasound diagnosis and interventional ultrasound.
On May 13, 2016, the hospital signed a cooperation agreement with the Department of Interventional Ultrasound of Beijing PLA General Hospital, becoming the Shenzhen Base of the Interventional Ultrasound Alliance of PLA General Hospital. In 2018, it was awarded "National Advanced Unit for Grassroots Interventional Ultrasound" by the Interventional Ultrasound Group of the Chinese Medical Association Ultrasound Branch. It comprehensively carries out interventional ultrasound services, including puncture biopsy, catheter drainage, cyst sclerotherapy and tumor ablation, focusing on ultrasound-guided percutaneous microwave ablation treatment of solid tumors. In addition to liver tumor ablation, it also performs microwave ablation of kidney tumors, peripheral lung cancer, uterine fibroids and adenomyosis, thyroid nodules, breast nodules, cervical metastatic lymph nodes, etc.
In the past two years, with the rapid development of interventional ultrasound business, tumor ablation technology has rapidly matured, and the Ultrasound Department has gained wide recognition and praise both inside and outside Shenzhen. It is the vice chairman unit of four major societies: Shenzhen Medical Association Ultrasound Branch, Shenzhen Physicians Association Ultrasound Branch, Shenzhen Ultrasound Medicine Engineering Society, and Shenzhen Ultrasound Intervention Professional Committee. It is a member and standing committee unit of national and provincial societies such as the Chinese Research Hospital Association Tumor Minimally Invasive Treatment Committee, the Chinese Ultrasound Medicine Engineering Society, and the Guangdong Provincial Physicians Association Ultrasound Physicians Branch.
Personnel Structure:
There are currently 58 medical staff, including 3 chief physicians, 7 associate chief physicians, 16 attending physicians, 14 physicians, 2 charge nurses, and 15 reporters; among them, 1 medical doctor, 4 medical masters, and 42 bachelors. All physicians in the Ultrasound Department graduated from clinical medicine or imaging medicine majors of well-known domestic medical schools, have received professional training, and most have studied in well-known domestic teaching hospitals. They have all passed the Ministry of Health examination and obtained the "Large Medical Equipment Post (CDFI)" certificate. 3 people have obtained the "Obstetric Ultrasound Certification Diploma" jointly issued by the British Fetal Medicine Foundation and the Chinese Fetal Medicine Foundation. 3 people have obtained the "Prenatal Diagnosis Technology Qualification Certificate" from the National Health and Family Planning Commission. 3 people have obtained the "Tumor Ablation Training Certificate" issued by the Chinese Medical Association and PLA General Hospital.
Scope of Diagnosis and Treatment:
Main services: routine color Doppler ultrasound examination; examination parts and items include cardiovascular, abdominal, obstetrics and gynecology, small organs, etc. The characteristic projects carried out by the department mainly include: 1. First-trimester fetal NT detection; 2. Second-trimester fetal 4D malformation screening; 3. Pelvic floor 4D ultrasound examination; 4. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound; 5. Echocardiography; 6. Interventional ultrasound.
The center has four subspecialty groups, focusing on the development of four main lines of business: cardiovascular ultrasound, obstetrics and gynecology ultrasound, abdominal ultrasound, and interventional ultrasound, which are carried out as follows:
Cardiovascular Ultrasound Group: It carries out routine echocardiography and vascular color Doppler ultrasound services, with rich experience in carotid artery screening for stroke and large vessel disease screening. It also carries out transesophageal echocardiography services, including advanced technologies such as ultrasound-guided transthoracic and transesophageal atrial septal defect occlusion and valvuloplasty. This technology is carried out in only a few hospitals in Shenzhen.
Obstetrics and Gynecology Ultrasound Group: It carries out transvaginal 4D color Doppler ultrasound hysterosalpingography, transvaginal 4D ultrasound diagnosis of uterine malformations and early ectopic pregnancy; second-trimester fetal malformation screening and diagnosis; pelvic floor 4D color Doppler ultrasound and other services, especially with rich experience in prenatal diagnosis of fetal malformations. Many doctors are invited to give lectures and conduct academic exchanges nationwide.
Abdominal Ultrasound Group: In addition to routine abdominal ultrasound examination and physical examination ultrasound, it also carries out contrast-enhanced ultrasound, musculoskeletal ultrasound, neonatal lung and brain ultrasound, among which contrast-enhanced ultrasound technology is at the forefront in Shenzhen.
Interventional Ultrasound Group: On April 20, 2017, an independent interventional ultrasound ward was opened, the first in Shenzhen! Since its establishment, in less than three years, the business has developed rapidly, and four major sections of business have been carried out: puncture biopsy, catheter drainage, cyst sclerotherapy, and tumor ablation. The annual surgical volume exceeds 1,000 cases. Among them, tumor ablation services include ablation of liver tumors, kidney tumors, lung tumors, uterine fibroids and adenomyosis, thyroid and breast nodules, thyroid micropapillary carcinoma, cervical lymph node metastatic carcinoma, etc. The Ultrasound Center carries out more than 10 new technologies every year, among which 24 are the first cases in Shenzhen. It took the lead in carrying out microwave ablation of uterine fibroids and adenomyosis, microwave ablation of renal cancer, and microwave ablation of breast nodules in Shenzhen. It has introduced fusion imaging and 3D visualization platforms for precise tumor ablation. Currently, in Shenzhen, the scope of interventional ultrasound services, disease types, and ablation volume of our hospital are among the top.
Equipment:
The department has more than 30 sets of the most advanced ultrasound diagnostic instruments in the world, including professional obstetrics and gynecology 4D color Doppler ultrasound machines, cardiac color Doppler ultrasound machines, abdominal color Doppler ultrasound machines, professional interventional ultrasound and contrast-enhanced ultrasound color Doppler ultrasound machines from GE, Philips, Hitachi, Toshiba, Siemens, Mindray, and Sonoscape. There is 1 microwave ablation instrument and 1 interventional diagnosis and treatment room.
Scientific Research and Teaching:
The Department of Ultrasound Medicine currently has multiple national and municipal scientific research projects, and is a key member unit of the national 13th Five-Year Plan major project "Standardized Application of Precise Microwave Ablation for Liver and Kidney Tumors". In the past five years, it has published more than 30 papers in national professional journals, including 2 SCI papers, and 3 people have participated in editing and publishing 2 monographs. It holds 2 sessions of provincial, municipal and national training classes every year, with more than 300 students from all provinces across the country participating in each session. Every year, about 10 advanced doctors come to the department for study and advanced study. Ablation experts and ultrasound colleagues from all over the country come to the department for exchanges and study. Patients from all over the country come to the hospital for consultation.
