The laboratory is constructed according to national biosafety Level II standards, with living areas, buffer zones, and experimental areas. The waiting area for patients covers approximately 260 square meters, equipped with waiting chairs, water dispensers, air conditioning, calling systems, and convenience services.

The Department of Clinical Laboratory undertakes medical care, health prevention, teaching, and scientific research work. It is responsible for occupational health examinations in the entire Guangming District, serves as the monitoring point for tuberculosis pathogens and drug resistance in Guangming District, the sexually transmitted disease laboratory in Guangming District, and maternal and child health care in Guangming District. The department has 8 professional groups: clinical hematology, clinical body fluids, clinical biochemistry, clinical immunology, clinical microbiology, mycobacterial testing, outpatient laboratory, and gene amplification testing laboratory, covering 7 subspecialties of laboratory medicine. The department conducts more than 400 medical testing items, which can basically cover the diseases diagnosed and treated by various clinical departments of the hospital. New items are developed every year to ensure that testing items meet clinical needs. Using first-class domestic and foreign equipment, reagents, and consumables, selecting methods recommended by national norms, industry standards, and expert consensus, the department has established a comprehensive quality management system, adopted regular theoretical and skill training and rotation training measures for personnel, and built a team with continuously improving professional standards, striving for continuous improvement in service capabilities for patients and clinical practice. With hospital support and staff efforts, the department joined the "National Bacterial Resistance Monitoring Network" in 2018. In the past three years, it has obtained four municipal Science and Technology Innovation Commission projects, published many SCI and national core journal papers, undertaken provincial and municipal medical continuing education projects multiple times, and trained many full-time laboratory undergraduates, interns, and advanced students. In the past three years, the Department of Clinical Laboratory has won honorary titles of Excellent Department, Patient Satisfaction Department, and Excellent Department in Grade Evaluation. The hospital has held two PDCA competitions, winning first prize each time; 1 person has won the title of Advanced Individual in the Guangming District Health and Family Planning System, 1 person has won the title of Top Ten Doctors in Guangming New District in 2018, and 1 person has won the title of Outstanding Young Physician in Guangming New District in 2018.

Personnel Structure:

The Department of Clinical Laboratory has a total of 71 staff members, including 3 with senior professional titles, 10 with associate senior professional titles, 16 with intermediate professional titles, 38 with junior professional titles, and 3 support staff; among them, 7% have master's degrees or above, and 91.5% have bachelor's degrees.

Scope of Diagnosis and Treatment:

The department conducts more than 400 medical testing items. Routine medical testing is performed for hematological diseases, some genetic diseases, parasites, reproductive system inflammation, bleeding disorders, thrombotic diseases, anemia, etc. It offers indicators for evaluating the functions of important organs such as the liver, kidney, heart, and pancreas, as well as a series of indicators for cardiovascular, endocrine, respiratory, digestive, and neurometabolic functions. It detects sex hormone levels and thyroid function, determines myocardial infarction, muscle damage and therapeutic prognosis, and identifies the causes of anemia. It detects multiple tumor markers to assist in tumor diagnosis, monitor tumor progression, track treatment effects, monitor metastasis, and assess recurrence and prognosis. It provides diagnostic basis for autoimmune diseases, differential diagnosis basis for complex and difficult diseases, and allergen testing, including cellular immunity, humoral immunity function, ingested and inhaled allergens, and inflammatory reactions, such as a series of tests for rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, Sjogren's syndrome, autoimmune liver disease, phospholipid syndrome, autoimmune thyroid disease, etc. It detects antigens, antibodies, and nucleic acids related to infectious diseases such as hepatitis series, AIDS, syphilis, viruses, mycoplasma, and chlamydia, providing qualitative and quantitative results for clinical etiology clarification, diagnosis assistance, differential diagnosis, correct treatment, and judgment of therapeutic effect and prognosis. It can identify more than 500 types of bacteria, report more than 40 drug sensitivities, and monitor drug-resistant strains and drug-resistant enzymes, providing a basis for infection diagnosis and treatment, participating in clinical consultations to guide rational clinical use of antibiotics; it is responsible for hospital infection detection work, regularly providing clinical drug resistance analysis reports to help reduce antibiotic abuse. It provides eugenics and prenatal care, pre-marital health check-ups, screening for genetic diseases during pregnancy, and mental diseases; it undertakes occupational disease health examinations. A series of testing data also provides a basis for government departments to make decisions.
